SYMBOLIC COLORS

Edgar Allen Poe "The Raven"

The black bird represents power, strength, and authority. In this picture the raven is in control. The gold crown represents control and wealth, but it looks tarnished. Red demands attention, the dark red crosses may be a question of his faith. Brown means earthy. Green means growth, yet you can see how the green is being drowned out by the roots of the trees. This image represents a dark macabre world, one fate Edgar Allen Poe cannot escape.
